Rules and how the Fishing Competition works: -

Taking part, you have two options to get your catch noticed, you can: -

1 post you catch on our FishingAdviser Events page on Facebook
2 Post your picture on the partaking venues page where we will endeavour to keep up with their pages and with your permission to enter the comp, share your post.

In both cases you must post both the picture of the fish and its weight.

The largest fish is decided is proportionate to a percentage of the UK record at the time of the competition throughout the UK.  The largest percentage will be the overall winner. (See below on how largest fish is calculated)

If you would like to take part check out your local venue to see if it is partaking in the event or find out whos playing at

The event is limited to 12 venues this year.  Half of which will be from the North of the River Humber and half from the South.

How the biggest fish is decided

The biggest fish will be decided on the following algorithm, a % of the British record per individual species of fish.  In short if you caught any kind of fish whether a roach perch or a monster carp its weight would be compared to the British record books. Below is an idea of how it would work.

If the British record for a roach is 3lb, a 2lb roach would be equivalent to 66% of the biggest roach caught in Britain

If the British record for a carp is 60lb, a twenty pound 20lb carp would be equivalent to 33% of the biggest carp caught in Britain, And so on.  Ultimately the highest % wins as his method ensures that everyone who catches during the comp stands a chance of winning no matter what breed or size of fish they catch.
