Risby Park first opened for fishing approximately 25 years ago and now has 4 ponds. 

Folly Lake, their main feature lake, opened in 2002, it is a 3 acre match/pleasure lake and with thousands of fish, predominantly carp ranging from a few ounces to 10 lb+, Ide from 2oz to 3lb, Tench to 5lb, Skimmers /Bream to 3lb and some roach and perch, will give you a good day out. Other lakes at Risby include their carp pond (Gillen Springs) which is heavily stocked with mirror, common and ghost carp as is their Tench and Orchard ponds.

Facilities available on site include Folly lake Cafe which is open every day. Folly Lake Café is situated overlooking the historic Folly Lake & with a large South facing decked balcony. The log cabin is a great place to meet friends, visit the lakes & watch friends fish.

Open daily, the licensed café has ladies & gents toilets, offers indoor seating for around 30 with additional seating on the decking. It also offers a range of baits and accessories for the visiting anglers.

Blitz Nets Illegal Anglers

Environment Agency Fisheries Enforcement Officers in the North East checked almost 400 rod licences during spring bank holiday patrols.

The blitz to check anglers were fishing legally saw bailiffs net 14 people for offences on rivers and stillwaters over the weekend.  A total of 14 anglers out of 389 checked were found to be in breach of rod licence and close season legislation and were reported for it. Read more …
