New ‘Access for All’ facilities were officially opened at Jay Farm fly fishery, near Leintwardine, Shropshire on Thursday 23 May 2013.
To mark the occasion, local school children from Leintwardine Primary School tried out the new facilities and were given a fishing lesson by Environment Agency Project Officer, Pete Giles, and Karl Humphries from Get Hooked on Fishing.
Andrea Burton, Fisheries and Biodiversity team leader at the Environment Agency said:
“It’s been great to work with Jay Farm and see this project to fruition. We are firm believers in the benefits of fishing to communities, the environment and individuals and it was a pleasure to show the children around the fishery and give them a taste of what’s involved. Fishing is a fantastic leisure activity and one we want to encourage even greater participation in.”
